PETER JENNINGS BIOGRAPHY

Peter Jennings is a well-known television journalist who started out in Canada before moving to the United States as a child. On July 29, 1938, Peter Jennings was born in Canada. A journalist for broadcast media who hosted ABC World News Tonight from 1983 till his death in 2005. He covered a number of news events that changed the course of history, such as the 9/11 attacks in 2001 and the Gulf War outbreak in 1991. After quitting both high school and college, he briefly worked as an actor and a bank teller. He started out his career as a broadcast journalist for CFJR-FM in Ontario.

His father served as an excellent example of a brilliant broadcaster for him. He made the decision to pursue journalism because he wanted to emulate his father. In the early years of CJOH-TV in Ottawa, Peter Jennings worked as an anchor for the local newscasts and the Saturday host of the teen dance program Saturday Date.

In 1968, he opened the first American television news office in the Arab world, ABC’s Middle East bureau, in Beirut, Lebanon.

At the conclusion of 1974, he came back to the country to work as a Washington correspondent and newscaster for ABC’s brand-new morning program AM America, which was the forerunner of Good Morning America.

He signed a four-year contract with ABC, which was announced on August 9th. Beginning on September 5th, he would serve as the show’s only anchor and senior editor.
