On November 11, 2013, while presenting news on Good Morning America, Robach revealed that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer after receiving a mammogram on live television on October 1, 2013, and this was after she underwent follow-up tests.
Due to this, she took a break from broadcasting news and went to undergo a bilateral mastectomy. Later in November 2013, she revealed that the doctor found a second malignant tumor in her other breast during the surgery process. Besides that, the doctor also said that cancer had spread to her lymph nodes.
After that surgery, she went through eight rounds of chemotherapy radiation, and reconstructive surgery.
