Celine Dion, a French Canadian is a pop singer recognized for her vocal prowess and passion on stage. She achieved international stardom in the 1990s while working in the pop ballad tradition. Dion released her first English album titled Unison in 1990. The romantic ballad, Where Does My Heart Beat Now became was her first top-10 single in the United States. And now, determined to gain international attention, she released a Grammy Award-winning duet with Peabo Bryson titled Beauty and the Beast.

Impresario Rene Angelil launched Dion’s career with the La Voix du bon Dieu ( The Voice of God) album in 1981. With her talent, she had to win the 1982, World Popular Song Festival in Tokyo, receive her first Felix award the following year, and become the first Canadian to receive a gold record in France. Called upon to represent Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest, she won by performing Ne partez pas sans moi ( Do Not Leave Without Me).
