Hayley Williams, Biography

Hayley Williams is the lead vocalist and only constant member of the Paramore rock band. The American singer co-founded the band in 2004 alongside Josh Farro, Zac Farro, and Jeremy Davis. All We Know Is Falling, Riot, Brand New Eyes, After Laughter, Paramore, and This Is Why are some of the albums the band has released. Aside from the band, Hayley has released several songs, including the soundtrack to the Jennifer’s Body film, Teenagers. She has also ventured into the hair dye company, Good Dye Young and the Kiss-Off musical series.

Hayley is the daughter of Joey and Cristi Williams. She grew up in Mississippi alongside NBA player Rodney Hood. In 2002, her parents divorced. Hayley, who was 13 years old, relocated with her mother to Franklin, Tennessee, where she met Josh and Zac Farro. She met Jeremy Davis while trying out a local funk cover for The Factory band. Dave Steunebrink and Richard Williams discovered Hayley’s talent in 2003 when she was 14. They signed her to a two-year production deal. She was, at that time, writing pop songs with other songwriters in Nashville. The Atlantic Records A&R Tom Storms label wanted to make her a solo pop artist but she insisted on being part of a band playing pop punk music. The label granted her wishes, and she, Josh, Zach, and Jeremy Davis formed Paramore.

She finished second, behind Amy Lee of Evanescence’s, in the 2007 Kerrang! Readers’ Poll in the Sexiest Female category. She later took the first spot in four consecutive years, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012. Hayley is also a character in the Guitar Hero World Tour video game.

In 2014, Williams won the Trailblazer Award at Billboard’s Women in Music Awards. This was for making a unique mark in music and paving the way for other artists. She starred as the ‘Crimson Curse’ in Taylor Swift’s music video in 2015. In 2015, Williams, alongside co-writer Taylor York, was nominated for and won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Song for the song “Ain’t It Fun.”. Hayley won the APMA for Best Vocalist in July 2015.

Williams started working on a project titled Flowers for Vases / Descansos in January 2021. By giving a compact disk with the track, she unofficially released the single “My Limb”. She officially released the album on February 5, 2021. It was announced that Williams would be featured on Taylor Swift’s upcoming re-recorded album, Speak Now, on the song “Castles Crumbling” in June 2023.

Gilbert’s infidelity was later revealed as the reason. They finalized their divorce by the end of the year. In September 2022, Williams announced that she was dating Taylor York.
