Isaac Herzog, Bougie, who has been the president of Israel since 2021. He is the first president of Israel who was born in Israel since its declaration of independence. Herzog is a lawyer who served as government secretary from 1991 to 2001 and held several ministerial positions between 2005 and 2011. From 2013 to 2017, he was the Chairman of the Labor Party and Zionist Union Alliance. He led the opposition from 2013 to 2018.

Isaac was born on September 22, 1960, in Tel Aviv, Israel. The 63-year-old is the son of former Israeli president Chaim Herzog, making him the first son of an Israeli president who became president. His mother was Aura Ambache, the founder of the Council for a Beautiful Israel.

Hergoz lived in New York when his father served as the permanent representative of Israel to the United Nations for three years. He, during that time, attended the Ramaz School. He gained advanced education at Cornell University and New York University. Isaac joined the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in 1978, serving as a major officer in Unit 8200 of the Israeli Intelligence Corps. He pursued law at Tel Aviv University, then worked at Fox& Ne’eman, a law firm established by his father.

Herzog announced his candidacy in the 2021 Israeli presidential election on May 19, 2021, and was elected as president by the Knesset on June 2, 2021. He was sworn in on 7 July 2021, becoming the first son of a former Israeli president to also become president.

Herzog’s inaugural speech as President of the State of Israel, on 7, 2022, called for the healing of rifts within Israeli society and the building of bridges between Israel and the Jewish Diaspora. In October. Herzog accused the residents of the Gaza Strip of collective responsibility for the Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023. He said that accusations that Israel caused the explosion of al-Ahli Arab Hospital were “a 21st-century blood libel,” telling Britain’s Sky News that Hamas fighters captured by Israel were carrying instructions from al-Qaeda on how to make chemical weapons, including a chemical bomb, and that Israel was fighting against ISIS, al-Qaeda, and Hamas.

When Herzog visited the World Economic Forum in Switzerland, the Swiss Federal Prosecutor’s Office announced that it was investigating a criminal complaint against him. Though the nature of the complaint was not disclosed, it is believed to be related to the Israel-Hamas war.
