Jade Carey Ashtyn is an American artistic gymnast who has made a significant impact on the international gymnastics scene. She is known for her powerful performances in vault and floor exercises. Carey represented the United States as an individual gymnast in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and won the gold medal in the floor exercise. Carey is also part of the women’s team representing the United States in the 2024, Paris Olympics.
She had a scary moment during her debut on Sunday, July 28, 2024, when she flew off the floor in a scary fall, dimming her prospects of defending her title in the floor event. In the last part of her routine, she performed only a back tuck instead of a double back. The momentum she gathered sent her flying off the floor. She, however, explained that she had not been feeling well in the past few days and had been unable to eat. The unfortunate incident put aside, Jade Carey ranks as one of the sixth most decorated US female gymnasts of all time with a total of eight Olympic and World Championship medals.
