James began his TV career in the summer of 1978 at 33/40 predecessor WCFT stationed in Tuscaloosa, the ”33” in 33/40 He joined WSFA, based in Montgomery, in late 1978 to work as a weekend sports anchor as well as a part-time weatherman.
