John Ashton, Biography
John Ashton (February 22, 1948 – September 26, 2024) was well-known in the United States for his parts in the Beverly Hills Cop movies Midnight Run and Some Kind of Wonderful.
Ashton appeared in a lot of TV shows and motion pictures. He appeared in many Dallas episodes as Willie Joe Garr. “Negative Reaction” from an episode of Columbo and “Rendezvous at Big Gulch (Terror in the Neighborhood)” from episode 5 of Police Squad! both featured him.

Ashton grew up in Springfield, Massachusetts. He graduated from the University of Southern California School of Theatre and attended Defiance College in Ohio. He went to Enfield, Connecticut’s Enfield High School.

Roles in An Eye for an Eye (1973), Breaking Away (1979), Borderline (1980), Honky Tonk Freeway (1981), Last Resort (1986), and King Kong Lives (1986) were among his early cinematic credits.
In the first two episodes of the Beverly Hills Cop series, Ashton starred with Eddie Murphy and Judge Reinhold as Detective Sergeant John Taggart. His roles as the father of Eric Stoltz’s character in the 1987 comedy-drama Some Kind of Wonderful and She’s Having a Baby both reunited him with John Hughes.

John Ashton, Marriage
In 1968, Ashton married Victoria Marie Runn for the first time; the couple divorced in 1970. In 1976, he wed Bridget Baker-Ashton for the second time; the two divorced in 2001. With one child from each of his ex-wives, Ashton has two children. He married once and had a daughter.
At the age of 76, Ashton passed away in his Fort Collins, Colorado, home on September 26, 2024.
