A Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters (PAB) award was given to him for his reports after he traveled to Haiti with a group from central Pennsylvania in the wake of the devastating earthquake in 2010. Along with Julie Sidoni, he also received a PAB award for their thorough on-air coverage of the 2011 record flooding. He received a PAB prize for his in-depth coverage of a World War II veteran whose heroic tale from the conflict was the subject of a best-selling book.
Prior to joining WNEP-TV, Meyer had previously worked for other stations. He formerly worked as a reporter and weekend anchor for WJAC-TV in Johnstown. He was also crucial to WJAC’s coverage of the attack on America on September 11, 2001. In addition, Meyer was the first newsperson on the scene when United Airlines Flight 93 went down in Somerset County, just 20 miles from Johnstown. In the weeks and months that followed, he worked closely with the story and made sure he was always prepared to relay every aspect. Because of how excellent his descriptions of the catastrophe were, they were used in a number of publications about September 11 and its effects.
