In 2005, Gaga collaborated with rapper Melle Mel on two songs for an audiobook version of Cricket Casey’s children’s book The Portal in the Park.  Together with several NYU pals, she also started a band called the SGBand. They performed in New York and established themselves as regulars in the Lower East Side club scene. Rob Fusari, a music producer, heard her perform at the 2006 Songwriters Hall of Fame New Songwriters Showcase at the Cutting Room in June. According to the recommendation of talent scout Wendy Starland.  Fusari worked with Gaga, who commuted every day to New Jersey, on the creation of her songs and other music.

The producer claimed to have been the first to refer to her as “Lady Gaga,” which was a shortened version of Queen’s song “Radio Ga Ga,” when they started dating in May 2006. They were together till January 2007.

To advance her career, Fusari and Gaga founded a business named Team Lovechild, LLC. Gaga performed at Lollapalooza in 2007.
They created electropop tracks and sent them to leaders in the music business. After receiving a favorable response from Antonio “L.A.” Reid, and Joshua Sarubin, the head of Artists and repertoire (A&R) at Def Jam Recordings, Gaga was signed to Def Jam in September 2006.

The duo started off playing in clubs in the city, including the Mercury Lounge, the Bitter End, and the Rockwood Music Hall. Their live performance piece, “Lady Gaga and the Starlight Revue,” which was marketed as “The Ultimate Pop Burlesque Rockshow,” paid homage to variety shows from the 1970s.  At the 2007 Lollapalooza music festival, they performed.

Gaga began to blend pop melodies and the glam rock sound of David Bowie and Queen into her songs after initially concentrating on avant-garde electronic dance music. Fusari continued to work on the songs he had written with Gaga while she and Starlight were performing, sending them to the record executive and producer Vincent Herbert.

LADY GAGA THE FAME

Her debut hit, “Just Dance,” gained traction in clubs across Europe and the United States. It’s peaking at number one on the Billboard Pop Songs chart (also called the radio chart). The Fame’s other three singles, “Poker Face,” “LoveGame,” and “Paparazzi,” all debuted at the top of the radio chart.   Lady Gaga became the first performer to have four number ones from a debut album in the chart’s 17-year history. Fame garnered favorable reviews from critics and was a tremendous commercial success. She sold more than eight million copies around the world by the end of 2009.

Lady Gaga received five Grammy nominations for the album.  One each for song and album of the year (“Poker Face”) and best electronic/dance album (“The Fame”). She won two Grammys for best dance recording (“Poker Face”) and best electronic/dance album. Her opening duet with Sir Elton John was one of the most talked-about moments of the 2010 Grammys telecast. She also won three Brit Awards in February 2010 for best international female, best album, and breakthrough act. The British equivalent of the Grammys is known as the Brit Awards.

LADY GAGA THE SECOND ALBUM

When her second album, The Fame Monster, which was originally meant to be a bonus CD, was released in November 2009, “Bad Romance,” another smash single from the record, almost immediately became a hit. After that came “Telephone,” a song by Beyoncé with a nine-minute music video created by Jonas Kerlund featuring the two with references to “Alejandro” and the 2003 movie Kill Bill: Vol. 1 by Quentin Tarantino.
With a sold-out concert tour (which was announced to coincide with the release of The Fame Monster), as well as headlining Chicago’s Lollapalooza music festival and performing in front of a record-breaking 20,000 viewers on NBC’s

Today show, Lady Gaga emerged as one of the year’s most commercially successful artists. She was named one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People, and one of Forbes magazine’s most powerful women. She finished off 2010 by being selected Billboard magazine’s artist of the year. Lady was also listed among the 100 Most Influential People by Time magazine. After coming in a massive egg at the 2011 Grammy Awards ceremony.
Gaga later won awards for a best female pop vocal performance, best short-form video, and best pop vocal album for “Bad Romance”.

LADY GAGA ACHIEVEMENT

Lady Gaga looked to earlier musical eras for inspiration for her third album, Born This Way (2011). Gaga had frequently drawn parallels to singer Madonna as a blonde dance-pop artist with a predilection for provocative lyrics, and on the album’s first two hits the similarities were especially overt. A self-empowerment song in the vein of Madonna’s 1989 single “Express Yourself,” the album’s title track boldly combined sexual and religious images with “Judas.” Both songs gained popularity immediately.
Clarence Clemons of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band and guitarist Brian May of Queen also made cameo cameos on other songs on the album.

Lady Gaga released Artpop in 2013. Her series of chart hits were extended by the upbeat lead single “Applause,” but the album was viewed as a commercial failure.  She returned the next year with a compilation of songs called Cheek to Cheek that she had recorded with Tony Bennett. The album won the Grammy for the best traditional pop vocal album and topped the Billboard 200, jazz album, and traditional jazz album lists. The team also received that honor for their second joint venture, Love for Sale (2021), a Cole Porter tribute CD.

Lady Gaga continues to make solo albums at this time. Before Lady Gaga’s halftime Super Bowl appearance in February 2017, the comparatively subdued Joanne (2016) had a terrible performance. She went back to her earlier sound for her sixth studio album, Chromatica (2020), fusing disco and electronic pop.
