Larry Madowo has traveled a journey from Nairobi to international prominence to showcase his dedication to storytelling, business reporting, and technology. He is a Kenyan correspondent for CNN born on July 14, 1987, in Siaya. Though he initially considered a career in the priesthood, he settled into journalism and enrolled in a communication degree program at Daystar University in Nairobi.

He gained recognition as a reporter at one of Africa’s oldest private television networks, the Kenyan Television Network(KTN). He left KTN for NTV to serve as a business anchor and reporter. In May 2012, he started anchoring market day shows such as Open Exchange, Power Lunch, and Closing Bell for CNBC Africa. He then moved to BBC Africa Business Editor. This led to the development of six business TV shows in English, French, and Swahili. The World Economic Forum in 2020 recognized Madowo as a young global leader for his journalism contributions.
