Maria pursued a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and economics from NYU’s Washington Square Campus in 1989
She started out in radio while attending NYU, and after talk personality Barry Farber attended a class she was taking, she was offered an internship with his show on WMCA 570 in New York. Her willingness and aptitude to perform the necessary behind-the-scenes duties for the position pleased Farber. She was employed as an intern at CNN.
