Mark Robinson, Biography

Mark Robinson Keith is an American politician who has been North Carolina’s 35th lieutenant governor since 2021. He is running for governor of North Carolina in 2024 as the Republican Party’s nominee. He was the first Black major party nominee for governor and the first Black lieutenant governor of North Carolina. Robinson spent several years as a Greensboro resident working in the furniture industry before going into politics.

He gained notoriety in 2018 after a video of him supporting the right to bear arms during a meeting of the Greensboro City Council following the tragedy at Stoneman Douglas High School went viral. In the 2020 North Carolina lieutenant governor race, Robinson ran his first political campaign and defeated Democratic state representative Yvonne Lewis Holley. Robinson secured the Republican candidacy for governor close to the conclusion of his first term. In the general election of 2024, he will run against Josh Stein, the Democratic state attorney general.

Robinson’s Divisive Remarks

Robinson has a history of making divisive remarks both before and throughout his political career. He has supported a number of conspiracy theories, denied accusations of sexual assault against a number of well-known people, and has regularly made inflammatory remarks that are antisemitic, racist, anti-atheist, homophobic, Islamophobic, and homophobic, including Holocaust denial. Robinson was connected to remarks he made on a pornographic website during his campaign for governor, in which he called himself a “Black Nazi” and expressed admiration for Adolf Hitler and the reinstatement of slavery. Robinson rejected demands to withdraw from the contest and denied making the statements public.

Robinson was the ninth kid born out of ten on August 18, 1968, in Greensboro, North Carolina. Robinson has stated that he and his family experienced domestic abuse; he and his brothers spent a portion of their youth in foster care before returning home with their mother, a custodian. Robinson’s father drank lots of alcohol and was a violent man.
He served in the Army Reserve upon his graduation from Grimsley High School, went on to attend North Carolina A&T State University, and worked at a number of furniture firms in the Triad area. He studied history at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with the intention of becoming a history teacher while working in the furniture industry. In December 2022, he received his bachelor’s degree in history from the institution.

Mark Robinson, Inflammatory Comments

A file investigation conducted by CNN K revealed that Mark Robinson, the divisive and socially conservative Republican nominee for governor of North Carolina, made a number of inflammatory remarks on a message board on a pornographic website more than ten years ago. In those remarks, he called himself a “black NAZI!” and expressed support for bringing back slavery.

Despite a history of discriminatory remarks against transgender people, Robinson claimed to like watching transgender porn; a study of his old texts revealed that he had also called himself a “perv.”

The remarks, which Robinson disputes, were made before he entered politics and began serving as lieutenant governor of North Carolina. They were created using a username that CNN recognized as Robinson’s. The investigation was based on a long list of biographical characteristics and an email address they both shared.

Vulgar

Robinson made a lot of gratuitously vulgar and sexual remarks. They were created on the pornographic website “Nude Africa,” which has a chat board, sometime between 2008 and 2012. Robinson used the pseudonym minisoldr, which he used on the internet, to make the comments.

On his Nude Africa page, Robinson provided his complete name and an email account that he had used for decades on a variety of websites.

Robinson, a political figure who opposes abortion, had an abortion in 1989, according to a 2022 news article. During their courtship, her future husband, Mark Robinson, paid for the abortion. The Robinsons said that having an abortion “has been with us ever since,” and that’s why they’re adamantly against abortion now.
After the abortion was covered by the media in 2022, she and her spouse addressed it in a video. Her husband’s official Facebook page hosted the footage. While her husband was talking about the abortion, she sat next to him and did not say anything on the video. Reproductive rights advocates and North Carolina Democratic Party members chastised the Robinsons for endorsing abortion prohibitions after having one themselves.
