Mithun Chakraborty, Biography

Mithun Chakraborty is an Indian actor, producer, and politician who mostly works in Bengali and Hindi movies. In the past, he was a member of the Rajya Sabha. He has won two Filmfare Awards and three National Film Awards.
In September 2024, the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting announced that he had also won the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2022, which is India’s top honor in the film industry.

After attending Oriental Seminary, he graduated from Scottish Church College in Kolkata with a B.Sc. in chemistry. Following that, he enrolled at and eventually graduated from Pune’s Film and Television Institute of India. Before going into the movie business, he was a Naxalite, but tragedy befell his family when his only brother died from electrocution in an odd accident.

Mimoh, Ushmey Chakraborty, Namashi Chakraborty, and Dishani Chakraborty, their adopted daughter, are the four children of Chakraborty and Yogeeta. He met actress Sridevi on the set of Jaag Utha Insan, and the two were romantically associated in the 1980s. Rumors spread that the two were married. But Sridevi called off the affair when Chakraborty refused to leave his wife Yogeeta Bali.
