If you ask Seawright III, who was born in California, where he is from, Norman will say Louisville, Kentucky… only because Greenville, Indiana is more difficult to find (which is just 20 minutes up the road). As a young child, he was fascinated by television news. In high school, he began working in the media, producing news articles, and announcing basketball games for WNAS-TV at Floyd Central High School.

He completed his undergraduate studies at Ole Miss with a broadcast journalism major and a minor in Spanish with the intention of going into the news, but… His perspective almost completely changed as a result of his reporting and play-by-play broadcasting for Ole Miss Athletics. Broadcast & Digital Journalism student Norman studied at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication with a focus on Sports Communication. The week-long Meredith-Cronkite Fellowship between Arizona State University and KPHO in Phoenix enhanced his storytelling skills.

He also completed two internships in both news and sports at WLKY in Louisville, followed by sports internships at KARE and WSYR in Syracuse, before starting his career as the weekend sports anchor at KBJR/KDLH in Duluth, Minnesota. Returning to Minnesota feels like a homecoming after spending three years working as a sports anchor/reporter at WOWK in Charleston, West Virginia (and winning Sports Anchor of the Year each of those three years from the Virginias’ Associated Press Broadcasters).

In addition, he participated in track (sprinter/high jumper) and basketball, tennis, and basketball in high school. He attends games with his entire family and is an ardent Ole Miss baseball and football supporter (and his dad was a receiver for the Rebels). He likes Syracuse basketball as well as Louisville basketball. Seawright developed a hockey interest after visiting Minnesota, and now supports the Wild (when not cheering on the Nashville Predators).

He spends his free time reading, playing the violin, keeping fit while managing his love of food, or singing to himself. His second big love is music, and he enjoys most styles.
