She was previously CNBC s senior correspondent New York Mercantile Exchange covering the commodities market on a daily basis.

Sharon is a daughter to David E.Epperson(father) and Cecelia T.Epperson( mother), who is a retired school teacher in the Pittsburgh public school system and was previously teaching at Lincoln Elementary School in Pittsburgh.
Epperson’s father who had already died was Dean of the school of social work at the University of  Pittsburgh for nearly  30 years as well as was the first African-American dean at the school.
She has a sister Lia Epperson who is a Civil rights lawyer and law professor at American University Washington College of law and former NAACP CEO. Her grandfather was a steelworker.

Sharon is happily married to her soulmate Christopher John Farley who is also an award-winning journalist and author. The two couples have been married since August 30, 1997. They have a son Dylan Farley and a daughter Emma Farley. They are currently residing in Westchester County New York.
