Prior to his relocation to Virginia in March 2020, Zak worked as a reporter for WNCN in Raleigh, North Carolina. Additionally, he covered the fallout from Hurricane Michael in the Florida Panhandle and the Virginia Beach school massacre in 2019.

Zak was an anchor and an investigative reporter for KESQ-TV and CBS Local 2 in Palm Springs, California. In the Coachella Valley, Zak covered earthquakes, wildfires, high-profile court cases like the Pinyon Pines triple murder trial and the Turpin child abuse case, the fatal Palm Springs tour bus crash in 2016, the 2016 and 2018 elections, and California’s legalization of recreational marijuana usage.

He formerly served as a reporter and stand-in anchor for the NBC and CBS affiliates in Panama City Beach, Florida, WJHG-TV and WECP-TV, respectively. He worked as an anchor and reporter for WUFT News, a PBS and NPR station serving North Central Florida, while he was a student at UF.

At the University of Missouri, he is also pursuing a master’s degree in journalism. In addition to a regional Emmy nomination, Zak has won multiple accolades from the National Broadcasting Society, Florida Associated Press Broadcasters Association, Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas (RTDNAC), Virginia Associated Press Broadcasters, and RTDNAC.
