When she was 15, Ashlee began her career by appearing in television commercials. She maintained her acting career after that, appearing in the family drama 7th Heaven as a supporting character. Simpson is most known for her own spin-off reality show, The Ashlee Simpson Show, which aired from 2004 to 2005.

In 2005, Simpson also appeared as a supporting character in the film Undiscovered. Simpson began dating Pete Wentz, a member of the band Fall Out Boy, in 2006. Ashley Nicolle Simpson was born in Waco, Texas on October 3, 1984. Tina Ann Simpson is the daughter of Joseph Truett “Joe” Simpson, a former psychologist and Baptist youth minister. Jessica Simpson, her older sister, is her only sibling. Both of them received their primary schooling at Prairie Creek Elementary and North Junior High in Richardson, Texas, where the sisters grew up. Ashlee began studying classical ballet when she was three years old. When she was eleven years old, she also attended the School of American Ballet in New York City. In the year 1999, the Simpson family relocated to Los Angeles, California, where Jessica continued her music career.

Simpson appeared in an episode of Malcolm in the Middle as a guest star. In the same year, Simpson appeared as Monique in the Rob Schneider comedy film The Hot Chick, which was released in 2002. Ashlee also recorded a song called “Christmas Past, Present, and Future” for the holiday album School’s Out! Christmas the following year. She later recorded the song “Just Let Me Cry” for the soundtrack of the film Freaky Friday, which was released in 2003. Simpson went on to work as a writer and record demos later on.

2003–2007:
