Early Career

Prior to transferring to the IMG Academy for his junior season, he attended the McKeel Academy. He averaged 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals a game at McKeel Academy in 2012–2013 as a sophomore. Then in 2013, he guided McKeel to a 17-8 overall record and the regional semifinals of the FHSAA championship tournament. He was IMG Academy Bacon’s top scorer during his junior year, 2013–2014. He participated in 12 games and scored 19.3 points per contest in his lone season at IMG. He also led the team with 4.0 assists per game and shot 42% from the field and 70% from the line.

For his senior year, he later changed to the Oak Hill Academy. He chose Florida State on September 5, 2014, over offers from Oklahoma State, Georgia Tech, and Auburn. He guided Oak Hill to a 45-0 record and an unbeaten regular season during his senior year while averaging 24.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.2 steals per game. He was rated 14th by ESPN.

A College Career

Having chosen Florida State, he signed on September 5, 2015. On November 21, as a first-year student at Florida State, he was awarded CBS Sports’ National Freshman of the Week title.
