Maddie Ziegler, Biography

Maddie Ziegler is just but her common name, the specific name should be Madison Nicole Ziegler. She is an American actress and dancer. When she was only 8 years old she appeared in Dance Moms, Lifetime`s reality show. She starred in several music videos by Sia including Chandelier and Elastic heart. She was Camille Le Haut in Ballerina in 2016. In 2017 she became Christina Sickleman in The Book of Henry, Mia in The Fallout released in 2021, Velma in West Side Story the same year then Lindy in Fitting In in 2023. She wrote a memoir, The Maddies Diaries in 2017 which became a New York Best Seller.

She was born to Melissa Ziegler-Gisoni and Kurt Ziegler in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on September 30, 2002. Her parents divorced when she was six and her mother Greg Gisoni. Maddie is 21 years old. She has a younger sister, Mackenzie who is a dancer and singer. Two older step-siblings from her stepfather, Greg`s previous marriage and older half brothers from her father, Kurt`s previous marriage.

Ziegler began ballet lessons when she was two and ended up joining the Abby Lee Dance Company when she was four. She trained in lyricals, ballet, tap, contemporary, acro and jazz. Maddie attended Sloan Elementary School in Murrysville near Pittsburgh till 2013. She began homeschooling afterwards. As a teenager, she began working and had to spend most of her time in Los Angeles.

She won numerous titles at regional, state and national competitions with the Abby Lee Dance Company, the 2014 Dancers Choice Award for Favorite Dancer 17 & Under included. Ziegler, her mother, and sister appeared in Dance Moms. The reality show was about young dancers and their quarrelsome mother`s. Dance Moms made Ziegler one of the most famous dancers in the industry. Sia discovered her from Dance Moms. She appeared in music videos for artists such as Alex Calise and Todrick Hall. The public noticed her at 11 when she starred in the music video, Chandelier by Sia. The video won the ARIA Music Award for Best video, recieved nomination for the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards winning the Best Choreography award, and was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Music Video in 2015.

She starred with Shia LaBeouf in Elastic Heart, a Sia Video in 2015 and Big Girls Cry, completing her trilogy of videos in 1000 Forms of Fear album by Sia. In 2026 she starred in Cheap Thrills from the This Acting album by Sia. She has featured in several music videos, The Greatest, Thunderclouds, No New Friends, and Together, thanks to her collaboration with the LSD Group and Sia.

Acting

Maddie voiced Camille in the animation of Ballerina in 2016 released in 2017.The same year she became Christina in The Book of Henry. She became the stoic yet sensitive and vulnerable ,Mia in the high school drama The Fallout in 2021. The film won the Grand Jury Prize in the Narrative Feature Film Competition.
She was Velma in West Side Story and stars as Lindy in Fitting In. Ziegler became Ruthie in My Old Ass in 2024, a comedy written and directed by Megan Park, the director of the Fall Out.

Fashion and Modeling.

She has represented brands such as Clean& Clear, Capezio, Target, Ralph Lauren and
Tiffany& Co besides featuring on numerous magazine covers and fashion editorals. Maddie modelled for Kate Spade`s signature fragrance adverts in 2020. Ziegler and Mackenzie, launched a back to school fashion collection with American Eagle Outfitters in 2023.

Writing

She wrote the foreword to Everything I learned About Life, I learned in Dance Class, a memoir by Abby Miller. Her memoir, The Maddie Diaries became a New York Best Seller after its release in 2017. She has a trilogy of novels that discuss the life of a 12 year old dancer, Harper. The Audition was released in 2017 followed by The Callback in 2018 then The Competition in 2019 completed the trilogy of the ongoing novel series.

Ziegler is Sia and Jenna Ortega`s friend. She is dating an up coming musician named Eddie Benjamin. The relationship ignited back in 2020.
