Peter began his promising career in the Media industry in 1965 when he worked on the radio station 4BH where he was the writer, editor as well as a presenter of news bulletins. However, Peter, later on, moved to ABC Brisbane where he took up the roles of being both a radio presenter as well as a television news presenter. In 1973, Peter was picked as the relief presenter on the evening news for James Dibble.

After one year in Sydney, Peter left ABC Sydney, where he was the National Nine News presenter. In addition, Peter has also been the co-anchor of News Center Nine, alongside Brian Henderson.
